    Who is it suitable for? This qualification is only available to candidates who hold a level 2 electrical qualification or have worked within the electrical industry full-time for a minimum of 12 months and want to gain a recognised qualification.

    What’s involved? The qualification covers the following areas: Health and Safety legislation, Environmental legislation, Practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment. Principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems. Practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electro technical equipment. Cable termination. Inspection and testing. Fault finding and Electrical principles.

    If a candidate has already completed a Level 3 Diploma then they will only be required to complete certain units of the Diploma and the remaining NVQ units to gain the full Level 3 NVQ Diploma.

    Candidates build up a portfolio of NVQ evidence and have on site observations from our assessors.

     

    Where might it lead? On completion of this qualification candidates will be a qualified Electrician. On completion of this qualification candidates will be able to apply for an ECS Gold Card.

    Course duration We would estimate a minimum of 12 months. The time it takes to complete the workplace portfolio will vary per candidate. (Please speak with an advisor for current attendance options).

    Delivery method The qualification will consist of home study, centre attendance for theory sessions, practical training in the workshop and the collection of workplace evidence.

    Assessment methods Online multiple choice exams, written assignments and practical assessments. The NVQ portfolio of evidence is collected on site through reflective accounts and formal observations in the workplace.

    Entry requirements Must be working within the electrical industry with a qualified supervisor. Must have prior knowledge and experience of electrical, ideally with a Level 2 and/or Level 3 Diploma.

    How much does it cost? £3,833.33 +VAT. (If the Level 3 diploma has been achieved before then a reduced rate may be available: £1250) + additional fee for the AM2 assessment.
