    Course Details

    Who is it suitable for? This qualification is designed solely for individuals who have been working in the electrotechnical industry as a practicing electrician for a minimum of 5 years and possess specified knowledge, understanding and competence as outlined in the skills scan.

    The experienced operatives who are/have been working in the electrotechnical industry as practicing electricians for a minimum of 5 years, those who wish to have their competencies recognised and work toward an ECS Gold Card and who wish to develop their career.

    What’s involved? The competencies involved with electrical installation and commissioning. The qualification is made up of performance units which in summary cover:

    • the application of health, safety and environmental considerations
    • organising the work environment
    • application of design and installation practices
    • termination and connection of conductors
    • inspection and testing, fault diagnosis and rectification
    • It also has two units which between them cover BS 7671 wiring regulations, and initial verification (these are the same units that appear in the industry recognised CPD qualifications)
    • Preparation for the AM2 assessment (training only)

    Where might it lead? On completion of this qualification candidates who would like to apply for an ECS Gold Card will need to book and pay for their AM2 assessment at a centre of their choice.

    Course duration 6 – 12 months. Duration times will vary according to the time taken per individual to complete the workplace portfolio of evidence.

    Delivery method Practical assessments, online exams, workplace assessments, documented evidence of ‘real life’ jobs and witness testimonials.

    Assessment methods Online multiple-choice tests and practical assessments, completion of an onsite portfolio.

    Entry requirements Candidates must be working in the electrical industry, have a minimum of five years’ experience and posses the knowledge and understanding within the Level 3 skills scan.

    How much does it cost?

    The cost is £2,400+VAT

    If a candidate holds 18th Edition the cost is £2,100+VAT

    If a candidate holds the 2391 the cost is £1700+VAT

    If a candidate holds the 18th Edition and the 2391 the cost is £1,400+VAT
