  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations – Site Carpentry (6571-01)

  • Who is the course suitable for? This course is assessment only and is only suitable for those who are working in the construction industry and have previous experience or have already completed the Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry.

    What’s involved in the course? Learners are needed to achieve a total of 62 credits. 10 of these must be achieved from the mandatory units and a minimum of 52 credits from the optional units.

    What are the units involved?

    Mandatory units (10 credits needed)

    • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
    • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
    • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace

    Optional units (52 credits needed)

    • Erecting structural carcassing components in the workplace
    • Installing first fixing components in the workplace
    • Installing second fixing components in the workplace
    • Maintaining non-structural carpentry work in the workplace
    • Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace

    Where can this assessment lead me? This assessment can allow candidates to progress into employment, or into the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations.

    Course Details

    The duration of this course depends on the individual, though we would estimate a minimum of six months. It is a work based assessment where an assessor will attend the place of work on numerous occasions to undertake assessments. The learner will need to create a portfolio of which documents all their evidence towards units. Candidates must be working within the industry and have previous experience or a Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry. You must be aged 16 or over.
