  • Who is the course suitable for? This courses is suited to candidates who would like to learn the skills and knowledge needed in order to work as a site carpenter in the construction sector.

    What’s involved in the course? Candidates will need to carry out practical and theory training as well as complete a range of practical and written assessments and multiple choice tests. The units include:

    • Health, safety and welfare in construction
    • Principles of building construction, information and communication
    • Carry out first fix flooring and roofing
    • Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs
    • Carry out second fixing operations
    • Carry out carpentry maintenance
    • Set up and operate a circular saw

    Where can this course lead me? This course allows candidates to progress into employment, or into the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations.

    Course Details

    The duration of this course takes around 12-18 months. It involves classroom and workshop based training with centre based practical assessments, written assessments and online multiple choice exams. You must be 16 years old or over.

    The duration of this course depends on the individual, though we would estimate a minimum of six months. It is a work based assessment where an assessor will attend the place of work on numerous occasions to undertake assessments. The learner will need to create a portfolio of which documents all their evidence towards units. Candidates must be working within the industry and have previous experience or a Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry. You must be aged 16 or over.
