Course Details

Who is it suitable for?  This qualification is suitable for candidates who want to gain a recognised qualification in carpentry and develop their skills for progression to employment or to further learning.

What’s involved?  This qualification provides candidates with a range of site carpentry skills and knowledge. Candidates will also develop an understanding of the health and safety requirements for working in the construction industry and the industry itself. The units include construction health and safety, the construction industry, first and second fix carpentry operation plus a number of optional units including setting up and operating cutting and shaping machinery, mixing construction materials, environmental awareness and sustainability in construction and maintaining non-structural carpentry work.

Where might it lead? On completion of this qualification, the candidate will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress on to a higher-level qualification in the same or similar occupational area or progress into employment in their chosen trade. We offer the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction)-Site Carpentry, Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry (Construction) and the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction)-Site Carpentry.

Course Duration: We would estimate the course duration as a minimum of 6 months. The time it takes to complete the qualification will vary per candidate. (Please speak with an advisor for current attendance options).

Delivery method: The qualification will consist of home study and centre attendance for practical training in the workshop.

Assessment methods: A combination of practical assessments and online multiple-choice tests.

Entry requirements: There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. The qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.

This qualification has been developed for achievement in a training environment which means you do not need to be employed to take this qualification.
